Carly's love of stones and jewelry started at a young age. Some of her earliest influences were immediate family, her Great Grandfather, a lapidarist, and her Grandmother, a jewelry collector. From here the unlikely inception of CWD was born. Her formative years in the small community of Big Sur encouraged her creative spirit. Mellow days were often consumed traipsing the near-by beaches, finding small treasures such as shells, jade, and abalone. Carly's love of the ocean, stones, and travel are the main inspiration behind her work.
With the belief that all women are unique, CWD reflects this in each piece. The line often utilizes free form shapes and less-known stones and shells such as labradorite, chrysoprase and abalone. A joyfulness in color, and the love for beauty in all its simplicity. These are the values that Carly feels blessed by, and the gifts that she brings to share.
CWD has made its home in the quaint community of Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, the very first artist community in the United States. Surrounded by creative energy, each piece of jewelry is inspired, sketched and designed in the heart of this small town. Many pieces are made in Carmel while most of the fine jewelry pieces are hand-made in Los Angeles.
Since its inception, CWD has been seen in many editorials, including Vanity Fair, Conde Nast Brides, Glamour, Vogue and others.
